In documenting the trip, Yamane reconnects with his late and estranged father Masakichi, a World War II veteran, who had served with some of the men on the trip. Led by columnist and military history buff Bob Jones, the trip includes stops at Pietrasanta, where they the men are honored in a Liberation Day ceremony and take part in the unveiling of a statue honoring\n  \n   Sadao Munemori\n  \n  ; Mt. Fologorito, where they have a reunion with the Alpini, the Italian Mountain Corps who guided Allied troops; the American Cemetary and Memorial in Nettuno; and, finally, Monte Cassino, a mountain that was the site of one of their most difficult battles.\n  \n   Journey of Honor\n  \n  debuted at the 2001 Hawai'i International Film Festival and was first broadcast of public television station KHET on November 11, 2001. The film later won a regional Emmy Award.","url_title":"Journey of Honor (film)","categories":["Arts"],"rg_rgmediatype":["films"],"rg_interestlevel":["Grades 9-12","Adult"],"rg_genre":["Documentary"],"rg_theme":["War - glory, necessity, pain, tragedy","Heroism - real and perceived"],"rg_availability":["Widely available"],"rg_rgmediatype_label":"Films and Video","rg_rgmediatype_icon":"fa-film"},{"id":"Stanley Hayami, Nisei Son (book)","model":"article","index":"1 1/{'value': 2, 'relation': 'eq'}","links":{"html":"https://resourceguide.densho.org/Stanley%20Hayami,%20Nisei%20Son%20(book)/","json":"https://resourceguide.densho.org/api/3.0/articles/Stanley%20Hayami,%20Nisei%20Son%20(book)/"},"title":"Stanley Hayami, Nisei Son (book)","description":"Book built around the wartime diary and letters of\n  \n   Stanley Hayami\n  \n  that document his incarceration at the\n  \n   Heart Mountain\n  \n  , Wyoming, concentration camp and his military service in the\n  \n   442nd Regimental Combat Team\n  \n  .","url_title":"Stanley Hayami, Nisei Son (book)","categories":["Arts"],"rg_rgmediatype":["books"],"rg_interestlevel":["Grades 9-12","Adult"],"rg_genre":["Memoir"],"rg_theme":["Evils of racism","Growing up – pain or pleasure","Patriotism – positive side or complications","Role of men","War – glory, necessity, pain, tragedy"],"rg_readinglevel":["Grades 9-12","Adult"],"rg_availability":["Widely available"],"rg_rgmediatype_label":"Books","rg_rgmediatype_icon":"fa-book"}],"query":{"query":{"bool":{"filter":[{"term":{"published_rg":true}},{"term":{"rg_geography":"Italy"}}]}},"_source":["title","url_title","description","body","categories","coordinates","fulltext","rg_rgmediatype","rg_interestlevel","rg_readinglevel","rg_theme","rg_genre","rg_pov","rg_availability","rg_geography","rg_chronology","rg_hasteachingaids","rg_freewebversion"]},"aggregations":{}}
